The developer of University Marketplace, the $75-million live-in/shop-in project at the old Regency Plaza site, is e-surveying its potential customers: What kind of anchor tenants would you like, how often would you patronize them? etc. Invitation and link are at www.zoomerang.com/recipient/surveyintro.zgi?p=WEB226U4HFT8VY.

University Marketplace is a redevelopment of the existing strip center, at Shannon Road and University Drive east of the former South Square.

Preliminary plans, reported last winter, called for up to 389 apartments or condominiums and up to 140,000 square feet of retail space at the 14-acre tract.

Boo to you, too

A Halloween Express costume and novelty shop is open for business at Southpoint shopping center, next to Urban Outfitters. Northgate expects its Halloween Express, on the under-construction plaza near the movie theater, to open soon.

Caffeine comes back

Meanwhile at Northgate, a Cafe Allegro opens in the former Barnie's Coffee space on Monday. It will serve coffee, tea, cold drinks, smoothies and baked goods. Also new at Northgate are the Hat Lounge hat and accessory kiosk and Oil Bar fragrance stand.

Sweet stuff

Good, Better, Best Desserts & Cafe is moving into the former Flavor of New Orleans restaurant space at Alston Avenue and Carpenter Fletcher Road. The interior is now under renovation.

Palace on Broad

Caren Ochola has revived the Palace International as an African-themed restaurant and catering service at 1102 Broad St., former site of Randy's Pizza, Seventh Street Restaurant, Somethyme, etc., etc. Ochola and her husband ran a restaurant and nightspot called "The Palace International" from the late 1980s until 2001 on Parrish Street downtown.

Old McDonald's

The old McDonald's Drug Store, at 732 Ninth St. with the brown awning still out front, is being turned into a soda shop called "Ox & Rabbit." Opening is advertised as this fall. Bryan Nickell of the Watts-Hillandale neighborhood incorporated Ox & Rabbit Inc. last May.
