The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University will open a remarkable collection of photographs in "Big Shots: Andy Warhol Polaroids," with an opening reception Thursday at 7 p.m. The exhibit includes some 250 Polaroids and 70 silver gelatin prints taken by Warhol from 1969 to 1986, many of them being shown in public for the first time. Warhol's Polaroids served as studies for his paintings, but are also significant works in and of themeselves. The show will be on display through Feb. 21, 2010. Several talks and film showings will accompany the exhibition. www.nasher.duke.edu.
