Arson suspect Ricela Salome Rebollar-Valdez has a date in court Sept. 26 on the fire that displaced 34 residents of the Springfield Apartments.
Rebollar-Valez was arrested Sept. 1 at her home in Guilford County and is being held in the Durham County Jail under a $300,000 bond. Her hearing is scheduled for the District Court morning session.
She faces charges of first- and second-degree arson and breaking and entering in connection with the Aug. 31 fire at the secluded apartment complex on University Drive, near South Square. Before the fire, she was already due in court Sept. 26 on a misdemeanor false report to police charge.
Investigators have not released information on a motive for setting the fire, which destroyed several and damaged all 18 apartments in the building where it broke out. No residents were injured, but two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
