Gala Taylor of Durham has been awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award by Girl Scouts, North Carolina Coastal Pines, which is the second-highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
Taylor promoted community participation in and education at the Team USA vs. Team Netherlands Women’s Paralympic Sitting Volleyball Exhibition Games in Raleigh. Using displays and signs, Taylor helped team members and the community feel welcomed and informed about the sport of sitting volleyball and the paralympics.
Taylor is the daughter of John and Diana Taylor. She has been a Girl Scout since 2002 and is an individually registered member of Girl Scouts. She attends Durham Academy and participates in the Triangle Volleyball Club, her school math club, plays the piano and interns at Shodor Education Foundation.
