DURHAM - The 13-year-old victim of a shooting last week died Monday, police said.

Emily Lopez had been rushed from a house at 1932 Faucette Ave. to Duke Hospital after police found her Thursday evening with a gunshot wound to her head.

They said they had petitioned a 15-year-old boy to the juvenile justice system on an assault charge.

They did not disclose the youth’s name, but said he and Lopez were related. Neighbors said they were siblings.

Police did not say in announcing the death if they would change the juvenile petition to reflect that.

They said their investigation was continuing.
