Today's Best Shot comes from Mike Collins of Durham, who photographed this Northern Water Snake (Nerodia Sipedon) at Jordan Lake.
He was "trying to swallow his lunch (a fish), but his eyes were bigger than his throat! I stayed for 15 minutes, and the snake made no progress. I thought he was in a real pickle. Came back the next day to check up on him, but he was gone."
