Man shoots woman at Durham ATM, flees with nothing

From staff reportsOctober 21, 2013

— A woman was shot in the leg Sunday evening after she stopped her car at an ATM, and police were looking for the assailant Monday.

The only description police had of the man who fired was that he was white and wore a ski mask.

The victim, 38, was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of the bullet wound, which was not life-threatening, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

The woman had pulled into the drive-thru ATM at the Coastal Federal Credit Union branch at University Drive and Shannon Road about 6:30 p.m. when the man approached her car.

He demanded money, then shot and fled without taking anything, Michael said.
