Two shot, one fatally, at Durham party early Sunday

Two men were shot, one fatally, at Durham party early Sunday, police said.

Investigators were still looking into the shootings, which occurred at an apartment complex on East Cornwallis Road.

Durham police responded to a shooting call at 3:48 a.m. at 1400 East Cornwallis Road, Building 300.

“They found one male – Demario Lucas, 23, of Durham – lying in a breezeway,” a police statement said.

Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, wounded in the ankle by a gunshot, was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was not identified.

No charges have been filed in the shootings, which apparently happened during a party.
