CHAPEL HILL — Hillsborough and Chapel Hill police charged two men Feb. 1 with a September shooting at a house on Pope Road.
A third man wanted in connection with the crime – 24-year-old Jaheem Watson – has not been caught. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who encounters him is asked to call 911 but not approach him.
Rahmil Dimitris Ingram, 21, and Jahmil Deshawn Ingram, 18, both of 715 Council Lane, Chapel Hill, were arrested at the Gateway Apartments in Hillsborough.
Jamil Ingram is charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, misdemeanor failure to appear and related conspiracy charges, police reported.
Rahmil Ingram is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault by pointing a gun, discharging a firearm into a occupied dwelling, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping, related conspiracy charges and several counts of failure to appear, reports stated.
Both men were taken to the Orange County Jail and had first court appearances scheduled last week. Jahmil Ingram is being held under a $30,300 bail; Rahmil Ingram is under a $495,500 bail.
Watson also faces first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and related conspiracy charges, police reported.
Police have said the shooting was not a random act. The crime scene is in Durham County but within Chapel Hill town limits, which is why Chapel Hill police have been investigating.
The men are accused of shooting Kenneth Hardin, 45, in the left hand and the stomach around 5:30 a.m. Sept. 24. Hardin was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released. According to a police report, several people were at the scene during the shooting. It is not clear who lived at the residence, police said.
