Notables March 26

March 21, 2014 

• Lauryn Johnson, Kayla McNeil, and British Maxey have been awarded the Girl Scout Silver award by Girl Scouts – N.C. Coastal Pines. The Silver award is the second highest achievement in Girl Scouting. For their Silver award project, the girls engaged with a variety of assistance organizations to help others in their community, including the Durham Rescue Mission, the Ronald McDonald House, the Dove House and the Genesis Home. They also worked at Geek-A-Thon, helping refurbish PCs for deserving students. During the National Day of Service they prepared baskets for residents transitioning from homelessness.

Johnson is the daughter of Greg and Pam Johnson, and is in 9th grade. McNeil is the daughter of Crystal and Keith McNeil, and is in 8th grade. Maxey is the daughter of Jacqueline and Michael Maxey, and is in 9th grade.

The girls are members of Girl Scout Troop #1518, led by Jackie Maxey.
