Bulls teaming with Goodwill to accept donations

Goodwill and the Durham Bulls will be accepting donations of gently used clothing and household items at baseball games played at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this summer on June 20, 21 and 22; July 4, 5 and 6; July 16; and August 8, 9, and 10.

All but 6 percent of the revenue from the items donated to Goodwill will fund programs and grants for people across eastern North Carolina. For more information, please visit www.gcfglobal.org.

Durham Bulls begin extended home stretch with weekend series

The Bulls will finish an eight-game, weeklong road trip to Ohio on Thursday and be back in Durham Friday to start an extended home stand.

The Bulls will host Lehigh Valley for a four-game series May 30 through June 2, beginning with Friday’s first pitch at 7:05 p.m. in the DBAP. Durham then takes on Pawtucket, June 3-6, and will finish the home stand with a series against Norfolk, June 7-8.

Hayti's Triangle Golf Challenge is set for June 12-13 at Duke

The Triangle Golf Challenge, a tax-exempt organization that benefits local Triangle charities, has announced its 11th annual charity golf tournament will be held on Friday, June 13, at Duke University Golf Course. Amateur golfers of all skill levels are invited to compete in a two-person scramble format.

The events will kick off June 12 with a reception at the Hayti Heritage Center including a live and silent auction, followed by a jazz concert featuring trumpeter Tom Browne. Guests will have the chance to mix and mingle with celebrity hosts Walter Davis, Levelle Moton, Phil Ford and David Cutcliffe.

Proceeds from the events will benefit The Banks Foundation, Communities In Schools of Durham, and the Hayti Heritage Center.

Alumni Delta House hosts successful golf event

The Durham Alumnae Delta House Inc. hosted its annual golf tournament fundraiser last month at the Crossing Golf Course. Funds from the event will go to community service and youth programs housed at the Durham Alumnae Delta House.

Prize winners in the golf tournament included:

First Place Mesha Levister, Phil Ford, Redell Miller, Dustin Thompson.

Second Place James Rogers, Andre Bond, Sherrod Banks, Terrell Allen.

Third Place Byron Smith, Chris Smith, John Smith, Raymond Smith.
