Sense of place benefits business

Special thanks to the Durham County Board of Commissioners for keeping the Open Space and Farmland Protection funding in place in the 2014-15 budget.

As members of the Durham Appearance Advocacy Group, a coalition of agencies, businesses and organizations concerned with the preservation of Durham’s overall appearance and scenic character, we applaud your forward thinking.

Protecting open space and farmland is an important initiative in the County’s Strategic Plan. It helps maintain a high quality of life for Durham County citizens, protects natural habits for plants and animals, and provides recreation, agriculture, cultural and environmental benefits for the county.

We firmly believe that policies such as these that protect our appearance and sense of place also make good business sense.
