The state Department of Transportation began replacing a bridge on Leesville Road near the Wake-Durham County line this week.

The project will result in intermittent daily lane closures along the two-lane road. The only time drivers are guaranteed not to face lane closures is between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The project will cover a roughly quarter-mile stretch of Leesville Road that passes over Sycamore Creek. The work includes realigning the road to lessen severity of the curves.
