| Home to the Stanley Cup champions or not, the effect of professional ice hockey has trickled through the Triangle in numerous ways. Floorball may not be ice hockey, but minus the ice, expensive equipment and hip-checking it's similar. And its popularity is growing. Just ask Sandra Churchill. In August, she joined her husband and two sons on the local floorball club. Now she plays wing position alongside them on the Chimney Sweeps at Carolina Sportsplex. Her endurance is up, dexterity is improving, and she's more than just the supportive "soccer mom" filling water bottles and emptying her lungs on the sidelines. She's in the mix and looking forward to the new season, which begins in a few weeks. For more information, visit: . |
