| In a scene vaguely reminiscent of a modern Claude Monet painting, Forest View Elementary School second grader Yuhan Wu tries her hand at fishing at Little River Lake. Thanks to the Bright Ideas Grant Program, which Piedmont EMC co-sponsors with the N.C. Association of Electric Cooperatives, teacher Mike Cowal was able to get funding for 20 rods and reels with his grant proposal called "Take My Class Fishing." The students learned how to use the new rods and reels, and the entire class went fishing on Friday, May 18. The rods will stay at the school and will be available for parents to check out over a weekend, hopefully giving students the chance to go fishing with their classmates and parents. |
