| Jack Hutchinson, right, 5, and his sister Katy Hutchinson, 3, both of Durham, gawk at the young alligators at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Every Thursday at 4 p.m., a museum staff member greets the public and teaches them about the alligators and snakes that they have on exhibit. Next they feed the snakes one by one, giving them each dead mice to eat. The museum feeds each of the four-year-old alligators baby rats, with kids and adults alike watching with fascination all the while. |
