| Diamond Daniels, top, a fifth grader at Fayetteville Street Elementary School in Durham, sits on the shoulders of fifth-grade teacher Toni Nadiyah Moore as Moore acts out the role of the mystical queen of the animals. Fayetteville Street Elementary fifth graders, along with students from Chapel Hill's Rashkis Elementary School, danced during a performance of "An African Village: Potou, Senegal" in the Fayetteville Street Elementary auditorium. The dancers participated in a North Carolina Arts in Action program all year long, where they met once a week and learned dance, pride of achievement, positive self-image and increased physical activity. |
