| Language is no longer a barrier to communication for non-English speaking residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and patients at Duke Medical Center. Using a bright blue, dual-handset phone system called ClearLink, staff members like resident house manager Ava Bland, left, who is 'speaking' with Pilar Hernandez, now have access to interpreters trained in medical terminology and able to speak more than 150 languages. While Spanish translation is the most needed interpreting service in the house and hospital, families from France, China, the Philippines, and even Iraq have benefitted from the technology. |
