| A canvas labyrinth at Duke Chapel replicating that of the one laid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France circa 1220 A.D. is not a maze. With only one way in and one way out, it is considered a divine imprint found in various forms in religious traditions around the world. Knowing the path and destination under their feet, travelers breathe in a sense of trust and -- at their own pace -- follow the single circuitous path to the center while learning to quiet their minds along the way. This will hopefully translate into a sense of spiritual balance, inner peace, personal insight and possibly even quiet celebration by journey's end. |
