A previously scheduled Durham Eagles Football camp has been cancelled and replaced by an alumni/community recognition day May 31 at Southern High School, which features NFL star quarterback David Garrard.

Garrard played at Southern High School in the mid-1990s. He went to East Carolina University and then to the Jacksonville Jaguars, whom he led into the playoffs this past season. He speaks at the beginning of the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Southern High athletes who play or have played at Appalachian State University and the University of Miami will attend.

The public is invited. Food and games for children are part of the festivities.
