Durham Citizens Coalition is proud to announce a new approach to providing information to the citizens of Durham. This series, with the kick-off meeting at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Durham County Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St., plans to bring the citizens and city departments into closer contact and give the members and guests an opportunity to hear from the managers who bring us the services we need.

Oct. 29

UNC folklorist and professor William Ferris will discuss, present a slide show on and sign copies of his new book, "Give My Poor Heart Ease: Voices of the Mississippi Delta," at 7 p.m. at The Regulator Bookshop, 720 Ninth St.

Alert, Well, And Keeping Energetic (A.W.A.K.E.) of Durham County will hold a Sleep Apnea Support Group from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Structure House, 3017 Pickett Road. Sleep specialists will be on hand to showcase the latest equipment and provide educational resources. Sleep apnea screenings will be performed, and a meal will be provided. Preservation Durham will hold its second annual Ghost (Building) Tour. Not your standard "spooky dead people" tour, this tour will highlight the architectural ghosts of bygone structures that continue to haunt us. This year, the group will explore the area between Brightleaf Square and West Village. This tour is free (with a suggested $5 donation). Tour booklets will be available from the Parker & Otis porch, 112 S. Duke St., on the day of the tour, and tour sites will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, Nov. 1.

Durham Parks and Recreation will hold "Hallow-Eno" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at West Point on the Eno Park, 5101 N. Roxboro Road. Enjoy hay rides, campfire stories, entertainment, spooky treats and much more. All ages welcome.
