Durham police arrested two men in connection with a slaying early Thursday on East Cornwallis Road.

Officers were dispatched to a "shots fired" call at 1:19 a.m. at an apartment complex at 1737 E. Cornwallis Road. Officers searched the area and found a male lying beside a Dumpster in the parking lot. The male, Marcelino Espinosa Guzman, 25, of 1737-D E. Cornwallis Road, had been shot and stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As Durham police officers K.T. Williams and J.J. Kenyon were driving to the call, they saw a male matching the description of one of the suspects run out of the woods near Fayetteville Road and Belgreen Road. Officers found a second male suspect in the same area.

The two males - Isai Espinosa Ramirez, 23, of Exacta Lane in Raleigh, and Abel Espinosa Ramirez, 21, of Southpoint Crossing Drive - were arrested and charged with murder. Both men have been placed in Durham County Jail without bond. The two suspects are brothers. They are also cousins of the victim.
