It'll be turkey time next month, but I'm just now cleaning up after last year's Thanksgiving.

No, I don't have moldy stuffing and cranberry sauce sitting in serving dishes on my kitchen counters. And there is no turkey carcass attracting dogs in the backyard.

What I do have is oil, used oil. You see, I jumped on the fried turkey bandwagon last year. Bought me a fancy turkey frying setup complete with a big ol' pot to cook in, a burner, lifting rack, and the longest thermometer you've ever seen.

About an hour and a half before dinner, my brother-in-law and I went out back and set up the equipment, while someone prepped the 15-pounder in the kitchen. We slipped that gobbler into about 2 1/2 gallons of 350-degree peanut oil and stood by in amazement as that turkey turned golden brown in 45 minutes, about three minutes per pound. It was delicious.

After dinner we cleaned up and put away the dishes and the cooking equipment. Well, most of it anyway. Still sitting in my backyard, though, in a large covered pot, is the oil we fried that bird in. Now, Thanksgiving 2005 looms and I've got to get rid of that oil.

Any of you biodiesel types want some free fuel?
